Rebecca Davis
Rebecca Davis began writing professionally in 1981 and has authored or co-authored several books about abuse in the Christian world (domestic, sexual, and spiritual), as well as several books of missionary stories, biographies, and devotionals for children. Her full-time ministry includes acting as a compassionate witness to people’s stories, helping women who are in or coming out of abuse, untwisting Scriptures that have been used to keep people in abusive situations, and offering hope through Jesus Christ. Besides her books, which will be for sale at the conference, Rebecca writes about these things on her blog, www.heresthejoy.com, drawing from her 40 years of study of the Scriptures.
Rebecca has been married to Tim for 34 years. For 24 of those years she homeschooled their four children, who are now all grown (three of them married, two grandchildren). She enjoys occasionally getting together with family and friends to play non-competitive games.
Eric Wright
Eric has been in ministry for 30 years, currently working with Impact Campus Ministries at WSU & U of I since 2003. Additionally, he is a Mental Health Therapist currently working for Quality Behavioral Heath in Washington. He holds a Masters as a Mental Health Professional. He is a Designated Crisis Responder, Crisis Sexual Assault Provider, and a Trauma Therapist.
He has been married to Mitzi for 24 years and is father of a seven-year old daughter Macie.
He enjoys Reading, Golf, and hiking/back packing.
Terry Candler
Senior Pastor Terry Candler has been on staff at Emmanuel since August, 2003. He served as the Associate Pastor for seven years prior to being called as the Senior Pastor in September, 2010. He is married to Denise and they have two daughters (Sydney and Sophey) and a son (Simon). Pastor Terry graduated from Carson Newman College with a B.A. in Religion (1989) and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (1996). His favorite hobbies include bicycling, fitness training, reading, and hanging out with family.
Shari Hall
Shari is the Celebrate Recovery Coordinator in the Moscow area, having served on the leadership team since 2009. She operates the non-profit organization Project Hope, which runs Celebrate Recovery, 2 prison ministries, a jail ministry and a counseling ministry. She is one of the co-founders of Awaken Network and serves on the board as Treasurer. She has completed the entire certificate program offered by the Christian Counseling Education Foundation. She is also a Genesis Process Counselor and has become a “Her Journey” Instructor through the Abuse Recovery Ministry and Services program (A.R.M.S.) based in Hillsboro, OR. She writes a blog on many of the subjects that she deals with her clients found at www.ShariHallBlog.com. Shari has been married to Mike for 33 years and they have two adult children. She enjoys gardening, reading, and endures exercise.
Claire Roise
Claire is an abuse activist and blogger, with a passion for women who are oppressed and defenseless within the church. She is one of the co-founders of Awaken Network and serves as Secretary on the board. She is also a co-leader for the Turning Point Men’s Change Class. She has been married to Peter Roise for 19 years and has homeschooled her 6 children for 12 years. She enjoys reading, running, being outside, and advocating for women.
Peter Roise
Peter Roise is an advocate for victims of abuse, with a special awareness of the difficulties faced by women caught in domestic violence situations. He has a passionate interest in helping the church learn how to better protect and serve victims and extend real, substantial help to abusers. This has been a catalyst for being one of the co-founders of Awaken Network and he serves on the board as President. By trade he runs his own photo/video business in the beautiful Palouse region of Idaho, works as a Digital Production Specialist and Account Executive for Appearances Marketing in Moscow, and spends most of his free time learning more about either photography or abuse. He loves getting to know people, tinkering with his camera equipment, playing around on a variety of musical instruments, and hanging out with his wife and six kids.
